I heard it beep 2 times as you pushed down on it… not sure what changed between the two nuts
Good for you! Hope you got a heck of a deal, because my local Toyota dealership is full of these things. Even their rear overflow lot is full of these things. The new Tacomas are starting to pile up also. Don't worry, Silverados, Rams and F150s are also piling up at every dealership. It's not the product, it's the ridiculous prices.
Yes the economy is slowing down, a lot. Interest rates and production increases did not help. They’ll adjust for it soon to stabilize the market, if it isn’t too late. I see Dodge, GM and Ford dealers jam packed, every car lot recently.
I just bought a TopScan. It works on my tablet too.
That is good to hear, thanks!
As master Yoda said to Luke - you will be, you will be
Thanks for watching.
Noticed you don't put oil in the filter prior to installing. Some do, some don't I always have
I usually do, but this filter is horizontal and much would just pour out during installation.
@@JimmyMakingitwork Didn't see or know that. Saw the hose fitting pointing down (iirc) and assumed...nuff said
Don't run engine for short period after cold start. If it has a vacuum hose for fuel return, make sure it's connected and in good shape. Fuel smell from exhaust or used oil are signs of cylinder wash.
I watched his video recently also, even left a comment. ;)
You are doing it the Right way, keep them Toyotas going strong!👍
Great video. Thank you. The Toyota haters are not good at math, it appears. The failure rate on engines at the time the recall was issued in late May was 0.27%. 0.27% of the Tundra's in service at the time of the recall had engine failure of some type. That includes all years 22, 23, 24. Could more of them fail, sure they could. But, if you like the truck, you have a 99.7% chance you will have solid truck, so get it and enjoy it. I would like to know what the failure rate is on engines for GM, Ford, Ram, etc. Heck, for all we know, 0.27% is an acceptable rate. Toyota haters are gonna hate, and those who loved their 5.7 previous gen are going to always take shots at the turbo V6........until they go buy one themselves and feel that power.
Thanks very much for the input, agree 100%! 💯
Thank you for info 😅
No problem 😊
I dont think ive seen a synthetic blend 0w-20, all have been full synthetic
We have 55 gallon drums. But I’ll be using full synthetic from now on in it.
Your ladder truck if for any fire or it’s a giant toolbox. Think of your fire engine as your rollcart and your ladder truck as your big harbor freight box. For a simple answer there is more I could go into on the subject.
Oh awesome, thanks for the input Brian!
if it doesn't fit throw a fit 😉🙃😊
lol
Good morning Jimmy, great video as always. thanks so much. Have a great day!
Good morning! Thanks Kathy!
Yes ,Torque Your Nuts !!!
I had a 86 S/10, great little truck except the 2.8 just didn’t have enough power.
Yeah it decent, but not like the 4.3. Although way better mpg.
Same difference
🧐
How do you like the icon torque wrenches?
Been very good for me. Needs batteries about every 6 months though, but I use it every day.
Today toyota and lexus is a trash you pay for badge only
Thanks for watching.
Good Morning Jimmy. Lot of rowing in today video! As always great being with you for coffee. Did learn I am not helping anyone change a air filter in a trans-it van. Have a great day!
Good morning! Haha it is crazy how they stuffed it in there.
hey jimmy, if the build date on the s10 was may to August, there was a good chance I built it! worked summer help 93 and 94 signed a disclosure saying I'm not part of the union it was done by referring family members and a short test. we made the( s10 )(blazer)(gmc jimmy) at linden nj. thanks for the content, jimmy!
That is awesome, when it comes back for more work I’ll check next time!
You better get rid of it
Did you have a problem with yours?
some body out there must make a Velcro kickstand out there in this Velcro world.
Yeah OB I’ll have to Work on something for that.
I don't understand why mechanics don't follow the standard break in procedure anymore? The first oil change should be between 60 and 100 miles of easy driving, the second oil change should be between 500 and 800 miles of regular driving, and the third oil change between 3000 and 4000 miles with more aggressive driving. Regular oil change intervals after that. Break in oil for the first oil change, synthetic blend for the second and third, and then full synthetic after that on regular intervals.
The manufacturer recommends much higher intervals. I always exceed those, by about half in most cases. The oil in mine looked brand new after 1500 miles. Changing it more wouldn’t hurt, but also wouldn’t accomplish anything other than good vibes.
Looks like all kinds of shinny metal to me. Way too sparkly. I’ve been changing oil for almost 50 years. Let’s see how your vehicle fairs in 30-50k miles.
Thanks for watching. You’ve got me beat I’ve only been a Master Technician for 40 years. :)
@@JimmyMakingitwork So Toyota is recalling 250,000 tundras for no reason, gotcha, well guess they’re just being overly cautious. 😜 Do you really think your twin turbo v-6 will out last a naturally aspirated V-8 that has been proven to run over a million miles? You’re a mechanic you know the answer to that.
JIMMY .. I have a 2023 Tundra my first oil change was at 1200 miles usually i replace it at 1000 miles . I've owned Toyota's for 45 years and occasionally purchased other brands.. I have 4 vehicle that i maintained . The FIRST oil change is VERY important to get the Micro filings out.. These NEW engines today with twin turbos are even more important for your first oil change .. Toyota sent me a recall that over a 100,000 engines maybe contaminated with machine fillings .. Toyota oil changes in the MANUEL shows at 10,000 miles interval .. I will NEVER change oil at that mileage my MAX is 5000 miles with full synthetic ultra pennzoil ..PERIOD ..MY vehicles get about 250,000 miles before i sale them and they still purr like a kitten...
Very true, that is a good plan Larry! Thank you
Thanks for the video Jimmy!
Any time! Thanks for being awesome!
Thanks for this, good to see. My 14 Tundra with the 5.7v8 is still going strong. Hopefully by the time I upgrade any issues have long since been solved
I hope so! I think Toyota will sort it out and also not nearly what people online who don’t own one seem to stir up.
Jimmy, does it matter when I finish watching a video for your algorithms, etc.? I somehow cut short this one and the following video, and I'm catching up now. I'm just curious how that affects your views and whatnot
The only thing it hurts is my retention time, but I say enjoy them as you wish and let the algo do its thing, haha. I really appreciate you asking!
Paul Masson sells no wine before its time. That Honda customer spends no dime before its time.
Rofl, that nails it.
Yup, every 5K miles and DO NOT use Mobil 1 oil (the creator used Amsoil) !!!!!!!!!!!!! Look up the video on oil shearing. In just 500-1000 miles Mobil 1 0-40 oil will shear down to a 0-30 weight......which is NOT good for your engine. CHeers !
Make sure it has the latest certification for motor oil. GF-6
Morning Jimmy. I've been using a Launch X431 for a few years. I've been thinking about renewing my expired license or getting a new one. Hate spending the money being so close to retiring, but need something for the next 3 to 5 years.
I usually renew, unless the screen is getting messed up or to upgrade the tool. The new Pro TT has been good for me so far.
Good morning jimmy
Morning My friend!
First again 😂🎉🎉🎉
🎉 Always a winner!
What is it mine does that
A bad wheel bearing.
Hi what brand of roof skin? Thank you so much
Classic Industries, OER and it fits very well. You’re welcome.
@@JimmyMakingitworkthank you so much 😊
Incompetence rampant in vehicle repair industry !
Every industry.
my first 2023 Tundra oil change at 1.2k
Nice work!
Jimmy, the real grill is your teeth or that wood or propane thing in the backyard. OTC on the cheap MB Grill.
Rofl
$30 for a funnel 😂😂😂
Hahahaha ha
I sure hope you're being funny because it literally takes not even 15 minutes to change a cabin air filter in one of those vehicles. You flip down the glove box and there's an access door behind. It literally slides right in and out. I'm assuming this one has an air conditioning issue of some sort and your just enjoying the sarcasm
You are correct :)
I once had to change a bulb on one of these and had the whole front end apart no lie
Yeah, some of them trap the bulb, seems like engineers don’t really care. Costs customers a lot for what should be a simple task.
Unbelievable 😳
:)
Congratulations! Not haters, just cautious and practical realists! I hope it runs a million miles for you.
Thank you!
For being somewhat a mechanic, I can't believe you are using those channel lock sort of pliers backwards loosening the filter unless it's left hand thread which most likely not!
Sometimes it's more about fitting the tool into the area I'm working, especially something like loosening an oil filter. Had to find a way to Make it Work. ;)
Look I'm 40 and work next to a guy that's old then me I don't know everything and im.fast and make my hours bit ill believe old and seen stuff is better then a book u read
That is usually the case, I agree, thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
that’s not only a newer chrysler 300 but you were sitting in one of the most luxurious examples of the 300. rhe john varvatos limited edition sedan a plaque was placed on top where the shifter is located giving its own designated number.
Ahh, very cool. Did not know that. Thank you.
Majority of break-in wear is 20 microns or less, much smaller than the eye can see. It takes about 8-10k miles to fully breakin the engibe. Next time, cut the pleats, then squeeze the oil out using a vise. You will be able to see much more. BTW, I'm an engineer, started using Amsoil in 1989.
I was looking for problem material, visible to the naked eye. Luckily nothing that bad. Thanks for the tip and leaving a comment!
All I had to do was take out the glove box and cut a hole
Problem solved! This one is under the windshield in the center toward the rear of the HVAC case, so that was not an easy task.
But you know other dealerships are not accepting Tundras as trade in...
Any vehicle with open recalls is not usually accepted in trade in. Since it can't be resold until the open recall is done. Takata airbags, electrical issues and all kinds of issues can case recalls and there are dozens of makes and models of vehicles with recalls at this time.
In Europe this things do not happen
Good to know. Thanks.
@@JimmyMakingitwork thats a crazy work to do to change a cabin filter man! Im a mechanic and never seen anything close to that!
